I Can! was established in 2010 when Alison Smeeton in conjunction with PMI, a JSE listed Adcorp Holdings subsidiary, started looking at training and employment opportunities for adults with a disability. They started the first Disability Academies with the purpose of providing an integrated socio-economic solution to stakeholders with an interest in disability. This is an end-to-end solution that positively addresses learning and employment opportunities for persons with a disability within a mainstream South African business environment. Since then I Can! has grown to also include disability placement services that focus on integrating persons with a disability into the workforce.

I Can! was acquired by Adcorp Holdings Limited from the 1st of March 2017 and integrated into PMI, a subsidiary of Adcorp. PMI is registered as a Private Higher Education Institution with the DHET and accredited by the CHE. They are also accredited to offer qualifications and skills programmes across 8 SETA’s. This acquisition provides ICan! the opportunity to venture into various other training delivery models and broaden the scope of qualifications that can be offered to persons with a disability.
